Every month our beloved metal miester T-Bone will select his latest pick for you dirt heads...

Dracula 2000

Last month's pick was Spineshank "Height of Callousness" (Roadrunner) To view past picks check the archive.

What's up freaks? I'm back again to spread my knowledge of what's the latest hard-hitting pick of the month. For my next pick, I'm going to go out on a limb and go with a soundtrack. I know you are asking yourself, "man is this guy on crack? There aren't any cool soundtracks that are worth a crap that feature cool ass bands!" Well, I'm your guide to that one soundtrack that we have all been waiting for. But first, ask yourself a few questions.

Tired of owning countless soundtracks that are all lame? Tired of buying a soundtrack for only one song that you wanted while having to skip through the rest of the disc with crappy bands? Tired of buying soundtracks with your favorite bands, but of songs that you already own from their previous CD's?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are ready to own Dracula 2000 (Columbia). Now, I'm no movie critic and I'm not going to tell you if the movie is any good. (Wes Craven kicks ass!) That's up to you, but I will tell you that the soundtrack is a dream come true for any metal head like myself.

The Dracula 2000 soundtrack features brand new, never before heard music from these artists: Powerman 5000, Slayer, Pantera, Static-X, Disturbed, System of a Down, Taproot, and Monster Magnet. Yes, these are all songs that no one has ever heard before!

After years and months of hearing nothing new from these bands, my cravings were certainly replenished and now I think I can make it until they release new CD's. Probably, my three favorite songs off this disc include the track "Avoid the Light" by Pantera, "Ostego Undead" by Static-X, and "Bloodline" by Slayer which stay true to the whole feeling of the legend, Dracula himself. Have you noticed that metal and horror movies go hand in hand??

System of a Down is caught doing an 80's cover song only fitting for the band called "Metro" by Berlin. At first, I thought it was an original song until our 80's expert claimed that I was wrong. I retaliated by saying, "80's music sucked! Look at Culture Club, Wham, and Milli Vanilli! Jeez did they suck or what? If it isn't metal, it's crap!"

Dracula 2000 features some of the new and upcoming bands that you should watch for this upcoming year. One of my favorites includes Godhead, who signed to Marilyn Manson's Posthuman Records, becoming the first band on the imprint. The song "Break you down" on the soundtrack also features the bad boy Manson doing backups. Some of you may have caught Godhead as the opening act for Marilyn Manson's tour.

Another up and coming band is Endo, who impressed many at last year's annual South by Southwest festival in Austin, TX. In fact, they impressed Columbia records so much, they got a record deal and this slot on the soundtrack. Flybanger, also Columbia records, was noticed after touring Canada where the band is originally from. If you are into Godsmack and Tool, this band is for you.

Other bands on this soundtrack include Linkin Park with the song that blew them up "One Step Closer" (featured on MTV) and Hed (PE)'s "Swan Dive" off of their newest album Broke. Other bands on the disc include Half-Cocked and Saliva.
