Secretly Drowning is simply a collection of unique and deep-felt songs that are derived directly from the heart of four very talented musicians. It is the band's belief, however, that the songs together create one beautiful clamor and serve as a soundtrack to their existence outside of the band. The core of Secretly Drowning was formed from the ashes of Midwest rock veteran's of Smakdab, who's musical efforts built a solid Midwest fan-base, garnered strong regional airplay and caught the ear and the production services of producer Johnny K (Disturbed). Secretly Drowning may be a new name but the musicians behind that name are anything but new. Eric's lyrics grow more impassioned and more desperate with each line. "We're a band that can ooze vulnerability and tenderness one moment, annoyance and brutality the next," comments drummer Ryan. Highly charged with emotionally electricity and lyrics that will hit home like you don't want them to, their first four song EP validates the concept that music as a pure form of expression, unconnected to anything trendy or sterile, still exists. Minneapolis-based Secretly Drowning's success has come at a rapid pace. Frontman and guitarist Eric M's vocals are as impressive as any singer in the country. His emotional outpouring on every track, whether on the recording or on stage, shines through with honesty second to none. Guitarist Corey's talented six string ability and incredible back-up vocal ability provides the perfect compliment to Eric M, while drummer Ryan and bass player Eric E provide an air-tight rhythm section that relentlessly drives the music and message.
