"There's something exciting happening in Des Moines, IA drawing sold out after sold out show with a brand new sound. With the sophmore debut "Glass" Index Case has come to grips with their signature sound and it's unlike anything out there. With poetic verses and stand out lyrics, many will try to piece together the meaning behind the stand out vocals of "Dert" Joe. Followed with booming/catchy guitar riffs and pulse-defying drum beats, Index Case is something not to mess with. "Nocturna" is by far one of the best songs I've ever heard this year putting Iowa back on the map much like Slipknot." T-BoneIn a time where most new metal/hard rock acts seem to all be spawn from the same melting pot, a band has emerged from the most unlikely of all places to put forth a musical offering that can truly claim it's own identity. Indianola, Iowa, which is the neighbor of the now more known Des Moines, Iowa, is home to Index Case. Open fields and gravel roads surround the band's practice space and recording studio, which has produced the audible experience that is Glass the band's 2nd full length self-produced offering. On first sight of the "Dex Inn" recording studio, one would lead to believe that life in Iowa is one of simplistic delight with a touch of Norman Rockwell. Those who would believe so should take a listen to Glass and re-evaluate their take on small town Midwestern life. Glass is an incredibly gifted musical offering of absolute rage, darkness, deception, melody and depression mixed with the burning desire to bring forth a message. And that is just the record. To see Index Case live is a visual and audible experience that is second to none. The pure intensity and musical ability forces the pulse to race with every pounding note. Vocalist "Dert" Joe Ansley's vocals and lyrical content are intelligent, original and piercing with depth and frustration. Ansley's ability to twist spoken word, dark singing melody and screaming gives Ansley a self-labeled sound that can claim no comparision. Josh Parker's guitar work is emotional and innovative, from taste-filled melodic riffs and acoustic work, to the bone-crushing metal grooves, Parker shows his writing, playing and performing ability goes way beyond the standard of one-finger, drop-D tuning that has now seemed to plague so many nu-metal bands. Jordan Spence's drumming speaks for itself. To listen is to believe. To see him play live is to be astonished. Calculating and precise with a major attitude, Spence is an undeniable power on the kit that drives the Index Case musical machine. Korey Birkenholtz bass ability is on point and always in the pocket. His live energy is that of a crazed man on fire while his all-American sounding vocal harmonies provide light in the midst of musical darkness, creating an ever present eeriness. The band has proved over and over again that they are already at the next level. Opening for several national acts including Papa Roach, Disturbed, American Headcharge, Primer 55, Static-X, and Nonpoint, Index Case has always stepped up and blew away any pre-conceived notion of what a "local band" should look, perform and sound like. Their music has been consistently requested on several radio stations such as KXXR in Minneapolis and KAZR in Des Moines. On March 25th 20002, the band will take another major step by taking their new single "Nocturna" to nationwide radio via the efforts of The Syndicate. Index Case has also inked a licensing deal with Pepsi Co's AMP Energy Drink, which garnered the band several nation shows, regional commercial spots and a single due to come out on AMP's compilation CD this summer. Locally, Index Case has sold over 3,000 CD's! Also, the band plans on shooting a music video in the next month. |
